Invisalign Invisible Braces: a virtually invisible system to straighten teeth.

Ever thought about straightening your teeth? So many people hide their smile because of crooked teeth. Before 1997, the options available to straighten teeth where limited outside traditional orthodontic braces. Since the  release of Invisalign invisible braces millions of people around the world now enjoy perfectly straight teeth because of these clear aligners. Invisalign has been proven to treat minor teeth straightening to moderate and severe malocclusions including gapped teeth, crossbite, overbite, underbite, overcrowing and openbite.

Invisalign history – where it all started

Apparently Zia Chishti was the one who hatched the concept of “incremental retainers” during his experience with orthodontics as an adult (according to our google sources!). The story is that he found himself struggling with his retainer he had the innovative idea that the same approach could be applied to the entire orthodontic procedure – the concept of invisible braces was born. Despite the fact that many orthodontists were originally skeptical of the invention it didn’t take long for consumer demand to grow. By 2000, Align Technology launched a $31 million TV ad campaign in the US to generate massive interest in Invisalign and general dentists started getting on board so they could offer this solution to their clients. The company went public in 2001 and the rest is history.

Invisalign went from an idea to being one of the best innovations in modern dentistry.

The Seven Advantages of Invisalign

  1. The clear aligners are removable making it easier to brush and floss.
  2. Results are visible within the first month.
  3. They are virtually invisible and few people will notice you’re having your teeth straightened.
  4. Utilises the latest software, 3D and manufacturing technology to ensure comfort and predictability.
  5. Comfort and support for an active lifestyle with no metal brackets cutting into your mouth.
  6. Perfect for busy lives with less visits to the dentist.
  7. More options for food and drinks as can remove the clear aligners at any time.

How does the Invisalign System work?

The Invisalign system for straightening teeth utilises Align Tech’s proprietary software and SmartForce ® technology. When you book in with us, we are able to create a customised 3D treatment plan to shows you the results we predict can be achieved. You can view your teeth as they are now and see how the final position of your teeth will look like after the treatment.

See the example below of the 3D plan we created for our lovely Practice Manager, Lyn Principe. Lyn decided to take advantage of the Invisalign system to straighten her teeth because, as an adult, she was conscious that traditional braces would be too intrusive. Lyn is delighted that her clear aligners are virtually invisible.

“I am thrilled to be over half way through my treatment and the results are already looking fabulous. It’s such a great option!”  said Lyn.

With the use of the Align Tech software, we are also able to determine the likely time it will take to straighten your teeth. Customised aligners are then made and you wear these every day, changing to a new set approximately every 2-3 weeks. We like to see you every 6-8 weeks to monitor your progress and provide you with your next series of aligners.

What are you waiting for?

As an adult, the thought of having wires attached to your teeth has probably been the very reason you haven’t straightened your teeth. Invisalign clear plastic aligners are barely perceptible and can be removed so that you can eat and drink normally and be able to brush and floss.

With the many advantages of Invisalign, now is a great time to come and talk to us about ‘invisible braces’ at Smile forever dental.

So now you have no reason not to get the smile you’ve always wanted.

We would love to see you.
