Q1: How many dental implant procedures have you done?
I haven’t actually counted them all, but I have undertaken literally thousands of successful dental implants for my clients so they can enjoy eating, laughing and smiling again. I am very proud that many of Perth’s top Doctors and Dentists come to me for their implants as they fully appreciate my experience and the fact that we use the highest quality materials available.
Q2: How long do dental implants last?
Tooth implants have been used successfully for decades. In fact, according the dental grapevine, the very first patient to receive modern implants had them until death, a period of 40 years. Your implants should last for a very long time, from 25 years to a lifetime. The better you care for your teeth, the longer they should last. The wear and tear on teeth could be a factor that decreases the longevity of an implant supported crown.
Q3: What is the average cost of a dental implant?
The average cost of a single dental implant at Smile Forever is $6,000-8,000 because we use top of the range materials and a local artisan ceramist so that the tooth lasts a lifetime and looks awesome. Ask about dental health rebates as we can work out your rebate when we give you a quote. There are cheaper options on the market, however we advise you ask a lot of questions about what you are getting and where it is made.
Q4: Are dental implants worth the cost?
Dental implants are worth the time and expense if you need to replace missing teeth. You pay a high upfront cost, however the cost benefit over time represents great value. By having a quality dental implant, you can enjoy eating and your smile will be complete. Another great advantage is that dental implants are made to look like your natural teeth especially as we use WA’s top artisan ceramist to custom make the teeth which match perfectly in colour to your unique smile.
Q5: How soon after tooth extraction can you have an implant?
In some cases, if enough healthy jawbone is present, it may be possible to place a dental implant the same day a tooth is taken out. However, in some cases, we would recommend waiting 3 months after a tooth extraction to allow the area to fully heal. If you have a missing tooth, we could possible place the implant and a tooth at the same time. More frequently however, an implant is placed and a 3 months healing period follows before the final implant crown is placed.
Q6: What is the downside of dental implants?
Dental implants are the best available technology we have to replace missing teeth. The single biggest downside is the upfront cost. Like teeth, dental implants can fail if they aren’t maintained properly so adequate home and professional care is necessary for their longevity.
Q7: Do teeth implants hurt?
The dental implant procedure does not cause pain as it is done under anaesthesia. There is minimal post-operative pain, and you can go back to work in a relatively short time for most patients, after the anaesthesia wears off. Any post-operative discomfort can be managed effectively by taking a locally available pain killer, such as ibuprofen.
Q8: Who is not suitable for dental implants?
Implant placement is a surgical procedure. So, you must be in good physical health. You must also have adequate bone in the jaw to support the implants. If there is inadequate bone for implant placement, you may have to undergo additional bone grafting to achieve adequate bone volume. … We also proceed with caution in people who are taking medication to manage osteoporosis, smokers and people with dry mouth. Suitability for dental implants is assessed on a case by case basis, however, it is suitable for most patients.
